A wise woman said “I believe that the most important single thing, beyond discipline and creativity is daring to dare”. And that wise woman was Maya Angelou.
Dare yourself to have faith
Maya Angelou is a woman who I admire a lot. She had overcome many obstacles in her life but her faith and her words never faltered. She was an author who wrote about everything around her. Maya Angelou didn’t write for fame. She wrote because God called her to use what she has learnt, felt and experienced to be shared with others. Maya Angelou practiced what she preached.
I encourage you as a boss, as a woman, man, wife, husband, partner to do the same. But for this blog, let’s use Maya Angelou’s words for business. For an author, you are the business and the business is you.
Dare yourself to be disciplined
Being a boss takes discipline to work, get down to the nitty gritty. The discipline you show should be an example to your clients and our employees. Discipline is having the ability to know that there is a time for everything….a time to play, a time to work, a time to plant, and a time to uproot (Ecc 3). Your discipline can set the tone for how your business operates.
Discipline could mean sending an e-mail, making a phone call or doing something towards your business.
Dare yourself to be creative
Creativity is the ability to let your imagination run wild, think out of the box and make the impossible possible. Creativity is business is important as you need to feed yourself and your business through trying new things and step out of your comfort zone.
Dare yourself to be different
Dare to dare…to be different….to take risks….to be unique as a person and a boss…how to treat your employees…as Maya Angelou said “Daring to dare”.
In business, uniqueness stands out, discipline is appreciated and creativity is rewarded.
Dare yourself to believe…..in YOU!
I encourage practicing discipline no matter how big or small, allow yourself to be creative but mostly be willing to DARE!
Be daring enough to dare!
